Abstract		Anemia develops in the majority of patients with chronic and terminal renal failure. The anemia is normochromic, normocytic, hyporegenerative. Its causes are: bone marrow suppression in uremia, blood loss in replacement treatment, relative erythropoietin deficiency. Since the mid-eighties erythropoietin is a successful drug for treating anemia in renal failure and is most often administered subcutaneously. It is also necessary to replenish the iron stores.
