Abstract     Mechanisms of most common primary manifestations of craniocerebral trauma and primary effects of the head trauma are shortly described. Computed tomography (CT) of the head is the neuroradiological imaging method of choice for the rapid evaluation of possible effects of the trauma of the head. Described are good sides and also some possible pitfalls of the method. Included are also the characteristic findings of the emergency CT examination of the most frequent posttraumatic lesions of the brain and other intracranial tissues and of the splanchnocranium.
