Abstract     Toxicity of amphetamine and amphetamine-related substances has been rather unknown in General Hospital Izola despite its increasing abuse in the Coastal Region of Slovenia. Even at low doses, complications can be severe and fatal. In cases of intoxication, hyperthermia, disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), rhabdomyolysis and renal failure have been reported. Reported cases with all the above listed features tended to have a fatal outcome. Authors described two cases of intoxications with urine positive on amphetamine-related metabolites. A poli-intox- ication with amphetamine, opiates and cocaine was fatal after a development of renal and hepatic failure, DIC, aspiration pneumonia, ARDS and sepsis in the first case. An acute psychotic state was outstanding in the second case.
