Abstract		The article describes the case of sudden difficulties in breathing and loss of consciousness in man of 72 years with a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease who has been for two years continuously treated with oxygen at his home. During the attempt to overcome the respiratory crisis in patient two life endangering complications arose: heart failure during the introduction of airway and bilateral tension pneumothorax after mechanical ventilation.
