Abstract | Downing is second leading cause of accidental death in children. While playing with the ball, a 8 and a half year-old boy fell into the river and started to drown. He was rescued by fireman about 45 minutes after the fall. The reasons for delayed rescue were several: poorly organized bathing area, remoteness of the place, poor communication during rescuing, insufficient rescuing equipment. When boy was rescued, he shown no sign of life, but after 10 minutes of resuscitaion the child's pulse became palpable and he was taken to hospital. After several months' treatment he was transerred to the Rehabilitation institute because of a strongly marked spastic syndrome. The boy is breathing himself now and is pesponding to his mother's presence. | |
