Abstract     An epistaxis, or nosebleed, is a frequently seen problem in the emergency room in our department. Epistaxis can be minor or mayor, depending on the amount of bleeding and the response of the patient; it can be severe enough to become a life-treatening emergency. Epistaxis most commonly occurs in children, adults from 50 to 70 years of age, patients with blood dyscrasias, artherosclerotic heart disease, or hypertension, patients receiving anticoagulant therapy, patients with alcoholism, people with certain allergies, and patients with hereditary telangiectasia (Rendo-Osler-Weber disease).
