Abstract     The resorption of 8-methoxypsoralen (8-MOP) from the digestive tract of guinea pigs was studied. An amount of 1.3 mg of 8-MOP was applied into the stomach of guinea pigs using a syringe and plastic cube introduced into the esophagus of the animal. Blood was obtained by heart puncture 20-300 min after the administration of 8-MOP. The concentration of 8-MOP in blood serum was assessed by high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC). Maximal 8-MOP concentration was obtained 20 min after the ingestion and after 3 h no 8-MOP was detectable, however, two other substances, must probably 8-MOP metabolites, were detected by HPLC. One of the substances peaked at 60 min, and the other at 80 min after the administration of 8-MOP.
