Abstract     The authors present the percentage of women employed the health and social services and the trend towards feminization in medicine. In dealing with the problems of such feminisation the authors discuss temporary absence from work, which is higer among women than among men specially on account of caring for asick family member and accompanying patient who is being transported. The authors were specially interested in those with responsibility in the health team primarly doctors, where temporary absence from work is much less frequment than with other workers. But even in this group women are more often absent because of illness, care of a sick family member and accompaning a patient. The authorsstatie that the feminisation of the health services has an effect on the necessary number of workers, which increases with the inceased percentage of women.
