Abstract		The paper is concerned with the proportion of women among faculty members of the Ljubljana Medical School (17% of all members in 1987) and the percentage of women graduates (60-76% of all graduates between 1980 and 1987). According to the author the reasons for this low participation of women physicians in the teaching process are to be looked for in their reluctance to accept extra work load represented by teaching, as well as in the discrimination directed towards female applicants for universirty teaching posts, a prerequisite of further university cariur.
