Abstract | Paraduodenal hernias are rare internal hernias. Many paraduodenal hernias are asymptomatic and found incidentally at laparotomy, operation or autopsy. On the other hand some paraduodenal hernias may present acutely with acute onset of abdominal pain resulting from small bowel obstruction. The exact incidence of paraduodenal hernia is unknown. A 4-year-old boy died unexpectedly at home without any previous history of trouble. The right paraduodenal hernia and haemorrhagic necrosis of the remaining part of the small intestine caused by blood vessels strangulation were discovered at autopsy. | |
