Abstract     Ischeamic heart disease still remains the most important cause of morbidity and mortality in the industrialized countries. The development of ischaemic heart disease is based on coronary artery atherosclerosis, the progression of which is influenced by many risk factors. Lack of physical exercise can lead to hypertension, obesity, hypercholesterolemia and stress and therefore represents one of the very important risk factors for coronary artery disease development. Furthermore, inadequate physical activity can contribute to osteoporosis, diabetes, cerebrovascular disease and orthopaedic diseases. The incidence of such morbidity could be substantially reduced with proper health education, based on individual and family approach. One of the most important tasks of jÐhealth education should be to increase the public awareness regarding the beneficial role of regular exercise and relaxation.
