Abstract     In patients with chronic renal failure that are treated hemodialysis (HD), deposits of calcium phosphate salts are found in the cornea and conjuctiva. This study includes 19 HD patients, 8 women and 11 men, whose average age was 41,4 years and average duration of dialysis treatment was 43,5 monts. The aim of the present study was to establishe the frequency of corneal an d conjuctival crystalline deposits in HD patients and also to detect a possible correlation between these deposits and serum values of calcium, phosphate, alumium, parathormon and the calcium x phosphat products. It was additionally our aim to establish a possible corelation with age and duration of dialysis treatment. in 15 out of 19 HD patients (79%), typical crystalline deposits were found, bouth incornea and conjuctiva. A comparison of serum vlues in patients with and without such deposits revealed no significant difference (p > 0.05). It was observed that the appearance of these deposits were only correlated with the duration of dialysis (p < 0.05).
