Abstract		Airway and breathing are of immediate concern in many acutely ill children. Injuries from airway or breathing problems due to acute illness and trauma in children occur because of anatomical differences in the airway, lung and metabolic rate leading to easy airway obstruction and hypoxemia. Signs of airway abnormalities in children may be confused other problems. Functional anatomy and the main physiologic parameters of the pediatric airway and respiratory system are presented.
