Abstract		First, the article describes mucociliary clearance (MCK) and defines its role in clearing of the airways, maintaining their patency and preventing infection. Then, it speaks about chronic lung deseases in children, in which MCK is primary or secondary injured. It emphasizes the importance of respiratory physical therapy in treating of these deseases, because it can, at least partly, substitute the compromised MCK.
