Abstract     The reproductive results before and after 232 transcervical metroplasties by resectoscope were evaluated. The operations were performed between 1993 and1996. The 5% dextrose was a distending medium and the automated gravitational Vario Flow system was used for uterine distention. The 83% postoperative pregnancy rate in the group ofwomen complaining fetal wastoge was significantly higher compared to the 48% postoperative pregnancy rate in the infertile group (P<0.0001). The structure of dif'ferent uterine anomalies did not ditl'er between the two groups of patients. In both groups there were 41 % of small septa (cca. 1.5 cm) and 59% major uterine anomalies (l.5cm * total septum). The structures of 300 pregnancies before the operation significantly differed to the structure of 144 pregnancies after the operation (P<0.001). The spontaneous abortion rate lowered from 78 to 11% (P<0,0001). The delivery rate increased from 13 to 81%. Preterm deliveries dropped from 55 to 10% of all deliveries (P<0.0001). Ectopic pregnancy rate showed no difference: 8 and 8%. The mean neonatal weight was 3335 g. Perinatal and neonatal data in the metroplasty group showed no difference compared to the data in the controls. The results highlight both the curative and the preventive role of this safe and simple endoscopic procedure. .
