Abstract		The article describes three impression techniques employed in fixed prosthodontics. Special attention is devoted to a new method using the matrix system. The advantages and siadvantages of two groups of silicones used as impression material are discussed. Accurate recording of the sulcular region is of crucial importance for the further laboratory procedures. Excellent clinical results are achieved with the matrix system, but the method is relatively complicated and time-consuming.
