Abstract		In the report overall environmental problems of small settlements around capital city Ljubljana, with special focus on use and protection of water sources and wildlife protection areas was worked out. As an example community of Brezovica was investigated in details. Morphological and ecological evaluation of running waters was carried out and the base of ecologically acceptable flow was presented. The priority of protection of water courses were defined as well as the locations and required areas for waste water treatment plants (constructed wetlands). Lakes and springs were also investigated.
