Abstract		Recent developments and advances in contrast echocardiography have improved the noninvasaive diagnosis and evaluation of cardiac structures and function. Over the past few yars, remarkable progress has been in the formulation of new transpulmonary ultrasound contrast agents capable of opacifying the left ventricle after intravenous injection. Simultaneously, innovative ultrasound imaging techniques have been developed to enhance the ability to detect micornbubbles in the left heart. This review will focus on recent advances in contrast agents and imaging techniques and their clinical applications for the enhancement of endocardial border definition, accentuation of spectral Doppler signals and myocardial perfusion imaging by intravenous contrast echocardiography.
Summary		Napredek kontrastne ehokardiografije je razširil neinvazivno diagnostiko srčnih struktur in njegove funkcije. V zadnjih letih so bila razvita nova, transpulmonalna kontrastna sredstva, ki po intravenski injekciji zamotnijo levi prekat. Sočasen razvoj ehokardiografskih slikovnih tehnik je omogočil boljši prikaz kontrasta v levem prekatu in miokardu. Glavne klinične aplikacije so : izboljšanje endokardnega prikaza in opredelitve regionalne in globalne prkatne funkcije, ojačane levostranskih doplerskih signalov ter neinvazivna ocena pretoka skozi miokard z miokardno kontrastno ehokardiografijo. Prispevek obravnava nove kontrastne snovi in slikovne metode ter njihovo klinično uporabo.
