Abstract		A short history of the Slovenian Diabetes Association, which was founded in 1956, is presented. In 1994 it became a full nember of the International Diabetes Federation - IDF and of the regional European Organisation IDF EURO. The mission and levelopment vision of the Slovenian Diabetes Association, in order to achieve the goals of the Saint Vincent Declaration, are emphasised.
Summary		Predstavljena je kratka zgodovina Zveze društev diabetikov Slovenije, ki je bilo ustanovljeno leta 1956. Leta 1994 je postala polnopravna članica mednarodne diabetične federacije (IDF) in njene regionalne evropske organizacije (IDF EURO). Prikazani sta poslanstvo in vizija razvoja Zveze društev diabetikov Slovenije, katerih namen je doseči cilje Saint Vincentske deklaracije
