Abstract     Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) sets many questions questions in family medicine. How to convert common problems into ques- tions prior to a search. How and where to search for relevant papers, how to appraise papers using research designs appropriate for family medicine. How to decide whether results are useful in practice. How to teach the skills of evidence-based practice. And at the same time we should not forget to keep all our attention on patient as a human being. We should be able to judge the real benefit of some test or treatment. All this represents a big challenge not only for Slovene family doctors but for all doctors around the world. As a conse- quence more and more research is done in family medicine settings. Despite all scientific evidence we should be aware of the limits on evidence based medicine.
Summary     Znanstveno utemeljena medicina (ZUM) odpira v družinski oz. splošni medicini številna vprašanja. Kako spremeniti običajne probleme v diagnoze, preko katerih iščemo rešitve problemov. Kako in kje najti relevantne članke, kako ocenjevati raziskovalne članke, upoštevajoč značilnosti družinske oz. splošne medicine, kako se učiti uporabljati ZUM.
