Abstract     Enteritis caused by Campylobacter sp. is now one of the most common cause of bacterial gastroenteritis worldwide. In the period from 1990 to 1995, were detected 1172 cases of gastroenteritis caused by Campylobacter in Gorenjska. Epidemiological research indicated, that the most common place of consumption food is the private household. Chicken and milk are the most commonly reported food source. Our research establishes the presence of bacteria Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli on meat and organs of poultry in selling in Gorenjska. These microorganisms were isolated from 60% samples of meat and organs of poultry. For the prevention of campylobacteriosis are presented certain recommendations regarding the cooperation with broiler breeders, meat industry, milk industry, veterinary institutions, public health institutions, and consumers.
