Abstract     The problematics of hormone residues in food of animal origin and the basis of veterinary sanitary inspection with aspects of the EU, USA and Slovenian legislation are presented. From 1992 to 1995 in Slovenia 1428 chemical analyses have been performed, analysing mostly bovine samples from our 6 exporting slaughter-houses. By immunoassay and GC-MS, no residues of diethylstilbestrol, zeranol, 19- nortestosterone, trenbolone, clenbuterol, melengestrol acetate and no added estradiol-17B and testosterone have been detected.
