Abstract     Numerous influences from the enviromnent damage body cells and tissues. The cause is free radicals. The body neutralizes redundant radicals with enzyme systems and antioxidants. The free radicals scavenging agents are: vitamin E, vitamin C, betakarotene and selenium. The study compared 17 multivitamin supplements with the SCFES Recommendation (1993). Nine supplements contain sufficient vitamin E, six supplements are insuficent. There is sufficent quantity of C vitamin in 9 supplements, insuficient in 5. Enough betacarotene is in 3 supplements only. Only Triovit contains enough selenium, insufficient content of selenium is found in one supplement. Nine products do not contain vitamin E, 5 vitamin C, 14 betacarotene and 15 selenium at all. Among the multivitamin supplements available on tlie Slovenian market only one corresponds to the Recommendations for all free radical scavengers, whereas others have insuficient quantity or even none at all.
