Abstract     Mountain lakes in Slovenia were considered for a long time as pristine, unpolluted lakes, in opposite to most of low-land lakes. Analyses in the last decade revealed considerable humanimpact even in such remote places. Lakes are threatened by tourism, long-distance transport of pollutants and fish introduction. In three selected lakes analyses of the sediment were done to evaluate input of some pollutants in the last few decades.
