Abstract		Injuries to the pelvic ring are divided into stable, partialy unstable (characterized by vertical instability) and completely unstable injuries (characterized by vertical and horizontal instability). A great majority of stable injuries are produced by low-energy trauma, and are mostly treated conservatively. Unstable injuries of the pelvic ring resutt from high-energy trauma and are associated with shock and concomitant injuries to other organs. Aggreesive shock treatment and stepwise diagnosis are essential in these patients. Prompt stabilization of the pelvic ring is by the use of the external fixsfor a pelvic clamp. Definitive management of the injury is undertaken once the patient's condition has stabilized and all diagnostic procedures have been completed.
Summary		Poškodbe medenice delimo na stabilne, delno nestabilne (nestabilne v navpični smeri) in popolnoma nestabilne (nestabilne v navpični in vodoravni smeri). Stabilne poškodbe so večinoma nizkoenergijske in izolirane, zdravimo jih konzervativno, le izjemoma operativno. Nestabilne poškodbe pa so visokoenergijske s pogostimi pridruženimi poškodbami in šokom. Pri takih poškodovancih sta potrebna agresivno protišokovno zdravljenje in stopenjska diagnostika. Urgentno učvrstimo medenico z zunanjim fiksaterjem ali medenično sponko. Take poškodbe dokončno oskrbimo po stabilizaciji splošnega stanja poškodovanca in po natančni diagnostični obdelavi.
