Abstract		In the paper, injuries of the knee are defined and classified according to mechanism of injury, and degenerative changes are classified as those, that result from injury, overuse or aging. Special attention is paid to differentation between these items. Diagnostic procedures that may to differentiate among them are presented. The paper is meant for clinical practice as well for expertise.
