Abstract		Patients with neuromuscular diseases (NMD) suffer from weakening of all body muscles - the respiratory muscles also being affected. Weakening of respiratory muscles together with mechanical changes of the thorax contlibute to the inadequate ventilation of the patient. Inefficient cough with frequent respiratoly infections occuls. This all can lead to respiratory faillure. This study deals with the question weather improvement of breathing capacity in patients with NMD can be achieved after performing certain respiratory training. It also discusses which particular training is more effective - that for mostly inspiratory or that for mostly expiratory muscles. The question weather patients with different forms of the disease differed in response to the respiratory training was also determined.
