Abstract     Septic shock is an important contributing factor of deaths in developed world. Complexity of the cause makes difficult to find immediate mechanisms, which lead in various types of positive feedback and can cause a vicious circle that at the end results in death. The purpose of the research was to explain a part of Staphylococcal Alpha-toxin in progress of septic shock. In artery we give two lethal doses of Alpha-toxin and measurements of ECG, arterial blood pressure and respiratory activity were taken and laboratory analysis of blood was performed. After death of rat tissue preparations of heart, lung, kidney, liver and central nervous system were done. Toxic activity and osmotic lysis in the organs mentioned above causes hyperkalemia, which is sufficient to explain the lethality of the toxin. The rats died due to multipleorgan dysfunction syndrome. Important roles in pathogenesis have immediate effects of Alpha-toxin on damage of parenchyma organs and increased permeability with lowering of effective circulating volume. The Alpha-toxin is also a trigger of disseminated intravascular coagulation, which is a common major complication of septic shock.
