Abstract		The article present a short display of the problems cocerning the ephedrine containing dietary supplements present on the market in our country. We have described reasons and causes for the massive appearance of such products in the United States of America and consecutively in Slovenia. Using the capillary electrophoresis, we have determined the amount of ephedrine in dietary supplements. We tried, with consideration to toxicological and pharmacological data and analytical results, to critically evaluated instructions given by manufacturer and importer and foresee the possible consequences of overdosing and prolonged intake.
Summary		V članku obravnavamo problematiko prehranskih dopolnil z efedrinom oziroma drogo Ma Huang, ki se v zadnjem času pojavljajo na našem tržišču. Opisali smo vzroke za množično pojavljanje teh izdelkov v Združenih državah Amerike in posledično pri nas. S pomočjo kapilarne elektroferoze smo določili vsebnost efedrina v izdelkih. Na podlagi farmakoloških in toksikoloških podatkov o efedrinu in rezultatov analiz smo kritično ovrednotili navodilo za uporabo oziroma deklaracijo na embalaži in predvideli možne posledice zaužitja prevelikega odmerka in dolgotrajnega uživanja.
