Abstract     Bioadhesive drug delivery system are developed to be applicated on different mucosae with the aim to adhere on mucus/mucosa and release the drug over a certain period of time. Mucosae that are most convenient for the application of bioadhesive system are the gastrointestinal, oral, nasal, ocular, vaginal, cervical and vesical mucosa. Bioadhesive drug delivery system can release the drug on the mucosa surface, into the lumen of the internal tract covered by mocosa or enables the drug to be absorbed from bioadhesive system directly in systemic circulation. Consequently, the drug can produce therapeutic effect locally if released on the surface of mucosa or systemically if absorbed in the blood. Extension of residence time, localization at the place of adhesion and intime contact with mucosa are characteristics with give bioadhesive drug delivery systems the advantage over the classical dosage forms and wich will very likely increase their use for some drugs and routes of application.
Summary     Bioadhezivne farmacevtske oblike se aplicirajo na različne sluznice v organizmu, se tam zadržijo določen čas in kontrolirano sproščajo učinkovino. Med sluznicami, ki so najbolj primerne za aplikacijo teh oblik je večina sluznic prebavnega trakta, vključno z ustno, nosna, očesna, vaginalna in cervikalna sluznica ter sluznica sečnega mehurja.Učinkovina se iz farmacevtske oblike lahko sprošča na površino sluznice, v lumen organa ali pa prehaja iz oblike direktno skozi sluznico krvi. Tako lahko učinkovina, sproščena iz bioadhezivne farmacevtske oblike deluje lokalno na površini sluznice ali sistemsko, če se absorbira. Podaljšan čas zadrževanja in lokalizacija na mestu adhezije ter tesen stik s sluznico so prednosti, kijih imajo bioadhezivne farmacevtske oblike pred klasičnimi oblikami in ki bodo verjetno pripeljale do njihove širše uporabe pri nekaterih učinkovinah in nekaterih načinih aplikacije.
