| Abstract | Plant genetic engineering offers more precise and more rapid introduction of genes into plants as compared to classical breeding methods. Agrobacterium tumefaciens is a natural genetic engineer used by researchers for the efficient transformation of plants. Shut gun and electoporation are also described. The commercialisation of transgenic plants is gowing exponentially each year. Many traits are introduced such as different resistances to herbicides, insects, and viruses, but there are many other possibilities as well challenges for the future. | |
