Abstract		In patients over 60 years of age, diseases of the musculoskeletal system often appear in forms differing from those seen in younger patients. Some diseases such as pseudogout and polymyalgia occur in advanced age only. When treating elderly patients for rheumatic diseases, the particularities of the aging organism as well as polymorbidity should be taken into consideration. There is no essential difference in the treatment of the most frequently disease - rheumatic arthritis - in old age or in youth. Owing to the frequency of side effects, regular laboratory controls and follow-up are necessary.
