Abstract		The incidence of purulent pericarditis has decreased since the age of antibiotics. 38-year old patient was admitted because of septic shock of unknowen origin. The purulent pericarditis with tamponade due to perforation of duodenal ulcer was found. The incidence and patophysiological mechanisms of purulent pericarditis are discussed.
