Abstract     Twenty-three years old female patient, who had deep venous thrombosis with pulmonary thrombembolism six months ago, was admitted to a hospital for suspected pneumonia. During hospitalization she suddenly complained about a sharp, pleuritic chest pain, which was followed by massive hemoptysis, dyspnea, tachypnea and fever. With regards to past history and test results the antiphospholipid antibody syndrome was suspected. We initiated a therapy with heparin, followed in a few days with a corticosteroid. The diagnosis was confirmed with a finding of serum anticardiolipin antibodies on multiple occasions. Otherwise unexplained eosinophilia and corticosteroid effectiveness suggests a secondary form of the disease. Authors want to remind of the antiphospholipid antibody syndrome, which can cause a sudden and dramatic morbidity and calls for specific diagnostic and therapeutic approach.
