Abstract     Introduction: The authors wanted to answer a global question: Do nurses by their actions and behaviour always entitle confidence of society, confirm and increase (celebrate) the good name of nursing care as a profession and most of all do they protect interests of each patient? What about our conscience? Is it often present? Methods: The authors try to find answers to some of the most evident ethical dilemmas which concern emergency medicine by analysing the existing situation at emergency departments and taking in consideration the Code of ethics for nursing professionals. With their work they hope to encourage the discussion about questions and dilemmas which stay open or offer more as one possible solution. Results: The authors give answers to most dilemmas. For some questions they offer more possibilities, while for others there is no answer suggested. Therefor this questions stay open for consideration and discussion. Discussion: Is it acceptable that relatives are present during resuscitation ? (Considering also the fact that they are allowed to be present during birth or dying of a relative). Can we protect personal data of patients against public? Is information privacy protected when using communication techniques - radio connections, telephones, computers...? Do we otten exceed our competence when helping a patient at the time when the doctor is not present? Have we got doctor's written authorisation? Do we report incidents and mistakes in our profession? Can we offer professional care whenever and wherever, ignoring our own safety? There are many more questions which are expected to be least partly answered by the discussion! Conclusion: When trying to act in the best interest of patient, we have a broader possibility to find the right answer when acting in compliance to the Code of ethics for nursing care professionals.
