Abstract		From the historical point of view not so long ago was taken for granted that the majority of newborn children would not survive the first year of their lives. The deaths of mothers at childbirth were also very frequent. The article deals with the presentation of the patient, work of the doctor and the midwife, urgent medical examination and delivering the patient to the maternity ward. Pregnancy, delivery and motherhood are undoubtedly the most important moments in woman' s life. To deliver the healthy baby is every mothers desire and the goal of every medical service.
