Abstract | We wish to present our approach to RESOLVING the problems of learning and education in the young after accidental brain injuries. Accidental brain injuries and their consequences are becoming an increasing challenge to modern society. There are many injuries, the consequences are difbcult and show up in various areas, while rehabilitation is a long-term process. Life after accidental brain injuries often completely changes. To fully live again, a large quantity of creativity and openness toward new learning is necessary. Accidental brain injuries are most commonly suffered by the young between the ages of 15 and 30. Many of them are in schooling at the time. Learning has a double role in rehabilitation after accidental brain injuries: ? It falls within the fields in which the consequences of the injuries show up most often. ? At the same time, it is an opportunity that enables the injured to improve other abilities. This is why rehabilitation is never a concluded process. For these reasons we have begun to deal with the problem of learning after accidental brain injuries in more detail at our institution. We have established a project whose purpose and goals are: To caution and demonstrate that problems in schooling are an essential part of the consequences of accidental brain injuries, which therefore demand special treatment within rehabilitation programs. At the same time, we must also consider the specifics of learning in individuals who are in other rehabilitation programs. (Abstract truncated at 2000 characters.) | |
