Abstract		The authors evaluated the speech of 30 cleft-palate children after they had undergone surgical treatment. The subjects were divided into two groups. Children in one group had already completed speech therapy, children from the other one were still being treated. Following surgical palate closure, speeeh became more distinguishable due to diminished nasal resonance, and compensatory articulation was retained. Speech therapy helped to improve speech production in such a way that communication was not impeded. The speech production of children who were included in speech therapy following surgical palate closure improved to such an extent that they had no problems in school.
Summary		Avtorji so ocenili govor 30 otrok z razcepom neba po zaključenem kirurškem zdravljenju. Otroci so bili razdeljeni v dve skupini. V prvi skupini so bili tisti otroci, ki so že zaključili korekcijo govora, v drugi pa tisti, ki so še v obravnavi pri logopedu. Govor postane po kirurški zapori neba bolj razumljiv, ker se zmanjša hipernazalnost in nosna emisija zraka, nadomestna izreka se obdrži. Logopedska obravnava pomaga izboljšati govor tako, da sporazumevanje ni moteno. Otroci, ki so bili vključeni v logopedsko obravnavo po kirurški zapori neba, so do vstopa v šolo toliko izboljšali govor, da zaradi govora niso imeli težav v šoli.
