Abstract		Velopharyngeal insufficiency is a possible complication after adenoidectomy and/or tonsillectomy. In order to assess the incidence of this complication, a questionnaire was sent to 430 children. The answers were analysed and medical documentation of the 283 children who replied was checked. The children, in whom velopharyngeal insufficiency was suspected, were examined by a phoniatrician. Velopharyngeal insufficiency was not found in any of them. In all of the examined children, rhinolalia clausa was detected and it was the result of chronic hypertrophic rhinitis. According to the results of the investigation, rhinolalia aperta, which appeared immediately after the operation, was caused by impaired mobility of soft palate because of pain.
Summary		Eden od možnih zapletov po operaciji žrelnice in/ali nebnic je velofaringalna insuficienca. Da bi ugotovili pogostnost tega zapleta, smo izvedli anketo med 430 operiranimi otroki, analizirali odgovore in pregledali medicinsko dokumentacijo 283 otrok, ki so vrnili izpolnjene vprašalnike. Otroke, ki so še vedno nosljali, smo pregledali v foniatrični ambulanti. Pri nobenem nismo našli velofaringalne insuficience, pri vseh pregledanih pa ugotovili zaprto nosljanje kot posledico kroničnega hiperplastičnega rinitisa. Iz rezultatov ankete smo sklepali, da je bilo nosljanje v prvih dnevih po operaciji najverjetneje posledica slabše gibljivosti mehkega neba zaradi bolečin.
