Abstract     In Slovenia, the use of alcohol and other psycho-active substances is widespread in adult population and among young people. With regard to negative consequences of alcohol use in Slovenia is one of the most endangered European countries. Slovenia has "wet culture" with high tolerance to alcohol use and almost no restriction on availability (no age limit, no restriction on sales, low price). Sport pedagogues, coaches and trainers usually do not have enough impartial information on negative consequences of alcohol use. They should be informed about sensible drinking limits, who and when should abstain from alcohol and other psychoactive drugs, what are differences between intoxicated adults and young people. They must learn how to make assessment of person intoxicated with alcohol and how to react in such cases. Coaches and trainers should also be capable of recognizing some signs of alcohol dependence. Another three important topics on alcohol use for sport pedagogues, coaches and trainers should be considered: 1. How to celebrate on or after sport events (without alcohol)? 2. How to help the sportmen/sportswomen who is addicted to alcohol? 3. What should be rules of alcohol use for sport pedagogues, coaches and trainers? In Slovenia there is no state legislation on alcohol use at sport events, although some restrictions were alreadymade by organizerthemselves. Sport pedagogues should be aware of great risk for alcohol intoxicationamong students when they are visitors of sport tournaments where alcohol is sold by many dealers. This presentation will give a special attention to the problem of alcohol dependence in famous and popular sportsmen/sportwomen and how they should be treated.
