Abstract     The article reviews the influence of knee joint immobilisation on its structural components: muscles, bones, ligaments, tendons, joint capsule and articular cartilage. Immobilisation rcsult: in measurable decrement of musele strength and their atrophy. It produces a decline of bonc mass, a weakening of the joints' dense fibrous tissue and a gradual loss of articular cartilage, which is ultimately replaced by fibrous fatty tissue. On the contrary, mobilisation and partial weight-bearing have beneficial effect on healing of traumatised knee structures. Conservatively or surgieally treated, it is better to protect them by using functional braces or taping, than to immobilise them.
Summary     Prikazane so posledice imobilizacije kolena. Imobilizacija prizadene mišice, kosti, vezi, kite, sklepno ovojnico in sklepni hrustanec. Mišice izgubijo moč in atrofirajo, kostna masa se zmanjša, čvrsto vezivno tkivo sklepa ošibi, sklepni hrustanec počasi izginja in končno ga nadomesti manjvredno vezivno-maščobno tkivo. Nasprotno pa mobilizacija in zmerno obremenjevanje ugodno vplivata na celjenje poškodovanih struktur kolena, tako da jih operirane ali konzervativno zdravljene raje zaščitimo z gibljivimi kolenskimi opornicami ali s funkcionalno obližno mobilizacijo, ki dovoljuje gibanje in delno obremenjevanje kolena.
