| Abstract | The paper presents reestablishment of health insurance in Slovenia in 1992, development of health insurance information system with integration of legacy applications and databases. Information model and current databases of Health Institute of Slovenia (HIIS) are presented. Information system architecture and organizational structure of HIIS with 56b locations requirecomputer network with adequate bandwidth, centralized databases require powerful cental data sever. Business applications and their future development are presented, as well as development in Java. Ongoing electronic commerce and its possibilities within health sector is presented. Health insurance card project, its business goals and objectives, and development possibilities (technologicy infrastructure) for health informatics are discussed. | |
