Abstract     Women scientist represent with their work important complementary mission to male colleagues. Woman's entity (essence) is different, usually more sensitive and more comrehensive for certain fields of scientific research work. A lot of conservative views still presents somewhere an obstacle for women to obtain working places where they coud prove extremely successful. Motherhood is stil impedance for employers to employ women. In spite of this, at least the second half of the 20th century proves that, especially in medicine, more and more women were educated and employed. Therefore also among Slovenian women doctors are artists of their profession who contributed with their knowledge to the world treasure of medical knowledge. In this article four Slovenian women doctors are described, whose work was accepted in the world with enthusiasm and estimation, influencing on new approaches to healing and prevention of diseases: the woman specialist for deep burns Prof. Dr. Zora Janžekovič, the woman oncologist and radiotherapeutis Prof. Dr. Berta Jereb and, the woman gynaecologist Acad. Lidija Andolšek Jeras and woman biochemist Prof. Dr. Jožica Ledinek - Paddle. They are not the only one who merit this presentation; they were chosen according to the wide response of their work and frequency of citing. About creative work of younger collagues will be easier to judge when their work become completed.
