Abstract		A comparative analysis of the legislation in force in the field of the protection and use of animals in experiments in the Republic of Slovenia has been performed, in view of the directives and regulations of the European Union. By the comparative study, the differences in the existing legislation in the Republic of Slovenia have been established and the proposals given for the harmonisation of the Slovenian legislation with the legislation of the EU.
Summary		Opravljena je bila primerjalna analiza veljavne zakonodaje s področja zaščite in uporabe živali v poskusih v Republiki Sloveniji s smernicami in predpisi v Evropski uniji. S primerjalno študijo so bile ugotovljene razlike obstoječe zakonodaje v Republiki Sloveniji in dani predlogi za uskladitev slovenske zakonodaje z evropsko.
