Abstract		T. mentagrophytes is the major cause for dermatophytosis in rabbits. Trichophytosis of rabbits in large commercial rabbitries represents a costly and a serious health problem to both animals and humans. Indirect ELISA test for the detection of specific IgG in rabbits, infected with T. mentagrophytes was developed and the diagnostic potential of the test was evaluated. Satisfactory reproducibility and no cross-reactions among various fungal antigens in ELISA were observed. Using new ELISA, the level of specific IgG was determined in sera of 5,7 and 11-week-old rabbits, infected with T. mentagrophytes. Our results demonstrate a significant increase in the level of specific antibodies in the group of 11-week-old infected animals, whereas in younger rabbits, exposed to the infection from birth, a lower level of antibodies was observed. An increased level of specific IgG in the group of 11-week-old infected rabbits exhibited high sensitivity (96.0 %) and high specificity (94.1 %) at the optimal cutoff value of the test. High predictive values of the ELISA confirm its encouraging diagnostic potential as well.
Summary		Pri kuncih povzroča okužbo z dermatofiti najpogosteje T. mentagrophytes, kar poleg zdravstvenega povzroča tudi resen ekonomski problem za rejce na farmah. Razvili smo posredni test ELISA za ugotavljanje specifičnih IgG pri okužbi kuncev s T. mentagrophytes in določili diagnostični potencial razvitega testa ELISA. Novo metodo, ki ima ustrezno ponovljivost in pri kateri nismo zasledili navzkrižne reaktivnosti testiranih glivnih antigenov, smo uporabili za določitev ravni specifičnih protiteles v serumih 5-, 7- in 11- tedenskih kuncev, okuženih s T. mentagrophytes. Pri kuncih zasledimo statistično značilno povišano raven pri starosti 11 tednov, medtem ko je raven protiteles pri mlajših kuncih, ki so bili od rojstva izpostavljeni okužbi, nižja. Povišana raven protiteles v skupini 11 - tedenskih kuncev se pri optimalni mejni vrednosti testa kaže v visoki občutljivosti (96,0%) in specifičnosti (94,1 %). Visoko diagnostično vrednost potrjujejo tudi visoke napovedne vrednosti testov, kar nakazuje možnost uporabe razvitega testa ELISA v praksi.
