Abstract		In the context of arrhythmia mechanisms, various classes of antiarrhythmic drugs are presented according to their predominant actions. We discuss the role of those drugs, which either selectively prolong myocardial repolarization (ibutilide, dofetilide) or, in addition, also possess antiadrenergic properties (amiodarone, sotalol).
