Abstract     Nowadays, radiofrequency ablation is the most suitable method for treatment of supraventricular tachycardias. Pharmacological treatment is appropriate for patients who refuse ablation, or in whom the ablation therapy is contraindicated. Ablations are successfull in over 85 % of cases; in some types of tachycardias the success rate is near 100 %. Atrial flutter can be successfully managed by ablation too, however, the recurrence rate (in the form of atria) fibrillation or flutter) is quite high. Nonpharmacological treatment of atrial fibrillation, the most common and the most important tacharrhythmia is still investigational and is not avilable as a regular therapeutic option.
