Abstract		Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a small B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma characterised by a spe- cific chromosomal translocation t (11;14)(q13;q32). This genetic abnormality leads to the juxtaposition of the bcl-1 locus on chromosome 11q13 with the immunoglobulin heavy chain locus (IgH) on chromosome 14q32, thus resulting in deregulation of the bcl-1 gene. In order to impro- ve differentiation between MCL and other small B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphomas we intro- duced a two-step seminested PCR method for detection of the t (11;14)(q13;q32). Cyclin D1 protein expression was detected by the immunohistochemistry. We analysed 16 cases of histologically diagnosed MCL. Fourteen of 16 analysed cases (87,5%) were cyclin D1 positive. Bcl-1 gene was rearranged in 4 of 16 MCL cases (25%). All 4 cases were cyclin D1 positive.
