Abstract     There has been a lot of hype inciting Small Enterprises (SEs) to adopt e-commerce. Higher speeds, and the much reduced costs of modern communication systems have influenced the economics of e-business. This, combined with the steadily falling cost of computer systems and the wide accessibility of the Internet and the world wide web, presents a unique opportunity for the global development of e-commerce and radical changes among trading partners. However, there are still a few perceived barriers that create an obstacle for interested parties. The study aims to report on the impact of e-commerce among SEs via an experimental study conducted within a small group of IT managers from the Chamber of Crafts of Slovenia. The findings indicate that most SEs lack technical know-how and require education and training in order to faster the uptake of e-commerce.
