Abstract     A healthy person has the constant equilibrium between the free radicals (reactive oxygen species - ROS and the antioxidants. When lire ROS prevail the balance is thrown off, which we call oxidative stress. The cell structures are damage by oxidative processes and this is the main cause of aging degenerative diseases, cancer. etc. The prevention of all these processes and healing their consequences is easier when we are acquainted with the role of antioxidants. There is a positive effect of antioxidants to p53 tumor suppression gen that is supposed to be the best cell cycles regulator and proapoptolic agent. It's the basis of anticarcinogenic action of antioxidants. For rational and safe use of antioxidants the knowledge of pathologic processes and cascade reactions of ROS in the biological systems must be better.
